Christopher Priest: The ENTIRE craft of comics
The first session SOLD OUT to the bare walls, now Priest is BACK for a new session!
You want to put a foot on the ground in the comics business. But do you know what it’s all about?
Christopher Priest does. As featured in the new Disney+ documentary Behind the Mask, Christopher Priest has more than 40 years of experience in writing, editing, and publishing at both Marvel and DC, along with a number of independents. His groundbreaking reinterpretation of Marvel Comics’ Black Panther became the platform for the Oscar-winning 2018 blockbuster film, his re-birthed Deathstroke was nominated for an Eisner Award, and his 2019 reimagining of the classic space vampire was the biggest-selling Vampirella launch of all time.
This long-form, 90-minute session is thoroughly upfront and honest, not for the weak of heart, and includes plenty of time for YOUR Q-and-A. As Priest says, “It’s kind of like life coaching for people dumb enough to want to do this for a living.”
In this survey, Priest will walk you through his infamous “Edited By Owz” Creators Style Guide, a comprehensive Art of (Comic Books) War rant prized by Marvel and banned by DC! This overview covers all of the major aspects of The Mission of being a working professional in the comics industry and is open to artists as well as writers and editors.
What is the CRAFT of comics all about? How do you enter as MUCH as an equal as you can, accelerating your career and ramping up your eventual peak value RIGHT from the jump? How do you shape that all-important story pitch? And the big question: Is this REALLY “what you want to be when you grow up?”
Seating is LIMITED for this unique session! Only 20 people will be admitted to allow for maximum, live interaction! This session that will take place Thursday, March 25 at 7 pm Eastern via Zoom video conference (Zoom.us). You must have Zoom downloaded on your device (phone, tablet, or computer) to participate. Full details at Zoom.us. You will receive an invite to the meeting prior to its start.
